In August 2021 it was announced that NHS Shetland were to receive £21,736 in funding from the Scottish Government after it was recognised that more people were coming forward with eating disorder conditions as part of a national review.
1. How did NHS Shetland use all of this funding and what was it spent on?
Due to a number of pressures on the mental health service and other departments in NHS Shetland this funding was used towards mental health nursing time to enable them to prioritise eating disorder patients.
Funding for next financial year is no longer ring fenced for specific issues i.e. eating disorders. However we recognise that being unable to spend what was originally planned NHS Shetland will set aside funding for eating disorders, this will include MANTRA training that is to be available in May 2023.
2. Please provide a breakdown of how the funding was used.
As above
3. Did any staff receive training as stated by the media release from March 2022?
As above
4. Also, how was this funding used to develop the eating disorder services in Shetland?
As above
