I would be grateful if you could please answer the following questions with regards to both tier 3 and tier 4 weight management services within your Health Board.

Tier 3
1. Does your Health Board offer a tier 3 weight management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service)? Is it self-commissioned? If commissioned elsewhere, where (which health board/ social care trust)?
NHS Shetland has Tier 3 weight management services that are currently in development to work towards meeting the Health Scotland Standards for delivery of weight management services. There is no specific financial commission for this service. This is delivered within the general dietetic service with an overall budget for patient care.
2. For how many patients is your Health Board's tier 3 weight management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) commissioned for?
There is no specific parameters for weight management services. All patients are triaged and treated by priority of care.
3. How many patients have been referred from your Health Board to a tier 3 weight management service (or equivalent specialist weight management service) in the past 12 months?

Tier 4 service is provided by NHS Grampian. NHS Shetland has an allocation to fund this.

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.
We can however say that due to the lengthy process of pre surgery support and criteria, anyone referred to this service would likely have an average wait time of 4-5 years
