Antenatal Classes - FOI Response Register

I am writing to request information in relation to the provision of NHS antenatal classes.

1. I would like to request the following information:

a) a list of all NHS antenatal classes provided by the health board, including their location;

NHS Shetland in and of itself does not provide antenatal classes, however the Scottish Government purchased a license from Solihull Approach for patients in NHS Shetland to use their antenatal classes product. These classes are accessed online.

b) the number of people attending these antenatal classes;

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested as it does not provide antenatal classes with these instead being provided via the Scottish Government contracted service Solihull Approach.

c) a breakdown of which classes were available as virtual (online) classes and which were available as face-to-face classes;

I request this data presented as a monthly breakdown for each month since January 2016 (Jan 2016 - Jan 2023 inclusive).

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested as figures from before March 2019 are not held and since March 2019 classes are provided via the Scottish Government contracted service Solihull Approach.

The company have been approached for figures on the uptake of these sessions. Although there is a Government report, our numbers are not included as they are too small and therefore statically insignificant.
