1. I am writing to you to ask what figure you have of confirmed or suspected injury caused by the COVID-19 vaccines within your health board.
I am aware the Yellow Card Scheme is the dedicated system set up to deal with this but, as it is self-reporting, I wanted to ascertain if assessments have been made by health professionals.
Thank you for your query regarding confirmed or suspected harm caused by the Covid-19 vaccines and specifically the numbers of yellow card reports made by healthcare professionals.
Although yellow card reports consist of confirmed and suspected reactions to vaccines and can be made by both health care professionals and parents/carers, it is important to note that most reports relating to covid-19 adverse events are mild and short lived and mostly consist of fever, fatigue and injection site pain and as such may be more likely to be directly reported by the patient/carer in the days following vaccination.
In accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 25(1) as the information requested is accessible without submitting a request under FOISA s 1(1). The information you have requested is available by following these steps:
1. Use this link to take you to a page on the MHRA website where you will be able to select the specific covid vaccine that you want data for https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/idaps
2. Select a specific covid-19 vaccine (I selected the first one in the list - COVID-19 vaccine Pfizer/Biontech monovalent)
3. Select the tab headed Reports Profile
4. Filter the information using the filters on the left hand side of the screen
