Patient Complaints - FOI Response Register

1. This is a FOI request pertaining to complaints received by your health board I would like to know the annual number of Stage 2 complaints made from 2018 to 2022 regarding patient care and clinical practice I would also like to know the mean average of days taken to resolve (or not) these complaints.

With regards to pre April 2022 data then in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 25(1) as the information requested is accessible without submitting a request under FOISA s 1(1). With regards to April-Dec 2022 data then in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 27(1) as the information is already intended for publication by NHS Shetland within 12 weeks from the date of the request at the following address:

The application of this exemption outweighs the general public interest in disclosure as this information is published at regular intervals in a consistent format to allow this information to be available to the public without the need to submit a FOI.
