There are a number of integrations.  Between primary, community and secondary care.  Examples:

Yes

Currently revising

  1. Do you have a public facing digital strategy?

Yes but old.  Expecting a new 3 and 5 year strategy to be published in early 2024.

  1. Do you use patient-initiated follow-up (PIFU) processes or technology?

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.

NHS Shetland does not have a specific way of recording patients who are put on a PIFU pathway, so this data is not held.

  1. Are there any tasks which your organisation performs or augments with AI tools such as Chat GPT or GPT-4?  An example would be a physician using GPT-4 to assist (but not rely on) diagnosing a patient’s condition.

Yes. 

The North of Scotland NHS Boards are developing an AI strategy.  It is anticipated that AI will be used to generate initial assessments/decisions that will be reviewed by clinical staff.

AI may also be used for support tasks such as IT, HR, OH, Estates and Facilities service desk functions
