Weight Management - FOI Response Register

Please note that we have collated data for adults only (i.e. age 18 years+)

1. The numbers of patients who have been referred to weight management services in each of the following years – 2018,2018,2020,2021,2022,2023 (so far)

Note – referrals include those referred to weight management programmes in Shetland.

2. The numbers of patients who have been referred to weight management services for Binge Eating Disorder, in the same years as above.

Note – Dietetic support will only be provided for any eating disorders referrals if there is also mental health input as dietitian input alone is not recommended.

3. The numbers of patients who have been prescribed Semaglutide, or the brand name Wegovy, in the same years as above.*

Note – the figures here are our total dispensing figures for NHS Shetland; we are unable to differentiate between prescribing for weight loss and diabetes.

4. The numbers of patients who have been prescribed Liraglutide, or the brand name Saxenda, for the purposes of weight loss, in the same years as above.

Liraglutide, or the brand name Saxenda are not available on the NHS in Shetland for the purposes of weight loss.

5. The number of patients who have been prescribed Ozempic in the same years as above *

Note – the figures here are our total dispensing figures for NHS Shetland; we are unable to differentiate between prescribing for weight loss and diabetes.

6. The numbers of patients who are considered obese in your health board in the same years as above.

Note – these are the collated figures for the 8 Board-run health centres. We are unable to provide data for the two independent health centres.
