1. Can you tell me how many times staffing was flagged as being below the required level in neonatal units – for the past two years please?
The guidance states that the minimum nurse to baby ratio should be 1:1 (nurse:baby) for babies receiving intensive care, 1:2 for high dependency care and 1:4 for special care.
NHS Shetland don’t have a NNU in our hospital. All babies requiring NNU support are retrieved and cared for off island.
