Chemotherapy - FOI Response Register

1. For the past 24 months from October 2021 to the end of September 2023, the number of cancer patients starting their first chemotherapy treatment in the reporting month, or their first treatment of a new treatment block, where chemotherapy drugs are collected from Gilbert Bain, or given at GBH as a day case. Numbers to be analysed by calendar month.

Please note that the above table contains patients who received a first cycle in Shetland or a second cycle, returning to Shetland.

Where we have given <5 answers this is because providing more specific detail carries a high risk of identifying individuals. As such, and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 38(1)(b) as read with s 38 (2A) as the information constitutes personal data and disclosure would breach the confidentiality of the data subjects.

2. From the patients in Q1, show the number whose treatment was delayed due to late arrival of chemotherapy drugs at GBH. Please break down by month, and the following groups:

• Delay of 12 to 24 hours
• Delay of 1 day
• Delay of 2 days
• Delay of 3-5 days
• Delay of 6-7 days
• Delay of 8 days or more

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested. NHS Shetland do not keep data about delayed treatments, this is held by NHS Grampian

3.
