I am keen to understand how long it takes for patients to receive results for the eight key diagnostic tests: upper endoscopy, lower endoscopy (excl. colonoscopy), colonoscopy, cystoscopy, CT scan, MRI scan, barium studies and non-obstetric ultrasound.
As such, can I request the following?
1. What is the target length of time for a patient receiving test results (in days), from the point of the test being carried out to the test results being disclosed to the patient?
For each of the last five financial years (2019/2020 through 2023/24 (most recent)), and broken down by each of the eight key diagnostic tests:
2. What was the average wait (in days) for a test result, from the point of the test being carried out to the test results being disclosed to the patient?
3. What was the longest wait (in days) for a test result, from the point of the test being carried out to the test results being disclosed to the patient?
4. What was the average wait (in days) for a test result, from the point of the test being carried out to the test results being analysed?
5. What was the longest wait (in days) for a test result, from the point of the test being carried out to the test results being analysed?
Can I please request that this data is provided in Excel format?
For scopes patients are provided with their result before they leave the department. For medical imaging patients are provided with their images upon request.
Beyond this in accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.
