Please provide information relating to the questions below for the machine types and years listed,
Years: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.
Machine types: MRI scanner, PET scanner, CT scanner, linear accelerator (LINAC) and surgical robots (both Versius and Da Vinci).
All responses are for CT only. NHS Shetland has none of the other modalities listed.
1. For each year and for each machine type, how many units were owned or leased? (Please also provide dates for new machines that were either commissioned or decommissioned within a year).
CT scanner – Philips Brilliance CT Scanner 2019, 2020 – April 2021 (Decommissioned April 2021)
GE Revolution Evo 2021 – present (Commissioned May 2021)
2. For each machine that was either owned or leased between 2018 and 2022, please disclose a) the date of purchase, b) the capital value and c) whether the machine was still in use at the end of 2022 and, if not, the date it was decommissioned.
Philips Brilliance CT Scanner, purchased 2008, decommissioned April 2021. This scanner was a donated asset following a community fundraising scheme CATS (https://www.shetlandtimes.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/2006-CATS-Appeal.pdf).
It was upgraded in 2013 to extend (https://www.shetnews.co.uk/2013/04/29/ct-scanner-upgrade/) its life.
GE Revolution Evo purchased and commissioned May 2021, remains operational to date. The scanner purchase cost was £390,000.00
3. For each year and for each machine type, please provide details on the number of times they were used.

4. For each year and for each machine type, please provide details on their availability in hours per day and days per week for use by number of scans/treatments/operations/procedures (apply when relevant).
The CT scanner is available 24/7. All available examination types 0800 - 18:00 Monday - Friday and for Accident and Emergency, including urgent inpatients as an on-call OOH service
