•           Admitted as an inpatient

NHS Shetland uses the ICD 10 coding system. Figures provided are for the number of inpatients where the given ICD 10 code was listed as the Main Condition.

•           Treated in A&E

Patients treated in A&E are only coded against ICD 10 if they are admitted. Therefore with regards to patients who were treated in A&E but not admitted then in accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.
