Readmitted Patients - FOI Response Register

Please provide the following information, broken down by year:

1. How many patients were readmitted to hospital within one month of being discharged from a hospital in your health board in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019?

Figures provided are for patients discharged and then readmitted within 30 days.

Figures exclude patients whose:

• 1st or 2nd admission was to Shetland Chemotherapy Unit
• 2nd admission was to Shetland Day Surgery
• 2nd admission was elective

2. How many patients were readmitted to a mental health hospital within one month of being discharged from a mental health hospital in your health board in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019?

NHS Shetland does not have a Mental Health Hospital.  There is one hospital, the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick.
