- Since 2015, per calendar year, the number of people diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
Not all children will come to paediatrics for ASD so complete figures cannot be given, as for those referred to Child Health Paediatrics all referrals in the time frame would have to be assessed to obtain the figures. Please see fuller answer below.
Children - 2015-2017 – figures relating to autism referrals and diagnosis were not recorded out with individual files. Individual files would need to be assessed to obtain these figures. The fuller answer below from Paediatrics would be similar to SLT.

Under FOISA s 12(1), NHS Shetland is not obliged to comply with a request if the estimated cost of doing so exceeds £600. Having reviewed your request, NHS Shetland has determined that the cost of compliance would exceed £600 and so is unable to provide the information requested; we have provided a breakdown of the estimated costs below:
To answer would require manually reviewing every paediatric referral received over this time period. There are 2473 relevant paediatric referrals and we estimate the above process to take an average of 4 minutes per referral. This would therefore take 2473 x 4 = 9892 minutes or in hours 164.86
Staff costs are capped at £15.00 per hour so the cost of responding to this would be 15 x 164.86 - £2472.99 therefore exceeding £600.
