1. How many patients in your health board have accessed at least one PrEP prescription in the last five years (February 2018 – February 2024)? If the information is available, please provide a figure break-down year-by-year. August 2018 – August 2019; August 2019 – August 2020; etc. August 2020 – March 2024.

2. If held, please share how many people commenced PrEP, but did not engage with follow-up appointments and care?

Where we have given <5 answers, this is because NHS Shetland considers that providing more specific information carries a high risk of identifying individuals. As such and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 38(1)(b) as read with s 38 (2A) as the information constitutes personal data and disclosure would breach the confidentiality of the data subjects.

3. What criteria or guidance is used by prescribers/clinicians determine eligibility for PrEP? Please share the guidance.

NHS Shetland uses guidance produced by NHS Grampian (see attached)

4. How many sexual health clinics are currently seeing patients within your health board (as of March 2024)? If the response is 0, where are patients referred to for sexual health needs, including PrEP?

NHS Shetland holds one Sexual Health Clinic

5. Do you collect demographic data of patients using sexual health clinics in your health board? What demographic data is collected? (for example, age, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.)

Yes. Age, Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Address, Marital Status.

NHS Shetland uses the National Sexual Health System (NaSH)

Anonymised reporting is available in NaSH at a regional and national level.

There are quarterly audits held, monitoring the different Health Boards using NaSH
