Diabetes Closed Loop Technology - FOI Response Register

1. Please confirm the current wait time for adult diabetes patients in NHS Shetland to receive closed loop technology (insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor)

We currently have 11 patients who are waiting for insulin pumps but current funding pressures means that we have funding for one new start this year.  Planning on putting through a business case for more. 

2. Please confirm the current wait time for child diabetes patients in NHS Shetland to receive closed loop technology (insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor);

Once identified, they will be added onto the next pump start group for the chosen pump.  Maximum 6 month wait

3. Please confirm the number of adults currently on the waiting list to receive diabetes closed loop technology;

4. Please confirm the number of children currently on the waiting list to receive diabetes closed loop technology;

No waiting list at present.

5. Please confirm the number of new diabetes pump starts for adults that NHS Shetland is planning for this year and the next two years (2024, 2025 and 2026).  To clarify, how many new adult pump starts does allocated funding allow for, in each of these years?
