Request and Response

For the past five years, please give a breakdown by year of;

  1. The number of pregnant women who have disclosed that they are a victim of domestic abuse/flagged as victims of domestic abuse in your system (please also include the total number of pregnant patients each year for comparison)

The answer to the first part of the question is <5 per year. Given the small numbers and the highly sensitive nature of the information requested, NHS Shetland considers that providing more specific information carries a high risk of identifying individuals.

As such and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 38(1)(b) as read with s 38 (2A) as the information constitutes personal data and disclosure would breach the confidentiality of the data subjects.
