- Can I please ask for information about the number of instances of emergency contraception issued in the board area from the start of 2023 until now (or whenever the latest figures are available for)?
I would take them broken down by month if that is available, if not then a yearly total, plus the amount for this year, is fine.
Year Instances
2022 <10
2023 <10
2024 <10
Where we have given <10 numbers, this is because NHS Shetland considers that providing more specific information carries a high risk of identifying individuals. As such and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 38(1)(b) as read with s 38 (2A) as the information constitutes personal data and disclosure would breach the confidentiality of the data subjects.
- Could you please break them down by:
Contraception type:
All were given tablet form of emergency contraception.
Age group - 13-15; 16 and over (for example, number of 13-15 year olds who received the morning-after pill)
Given the already small numbers, further breakdown in the categories requested are not possible, due to the high risk of identifying individuals and the sensitivity of the information requested.
The total cost for each individual method if available.
2022 Tablet form of emergency contraception £98
2023 & 2024 Tablet form of emergency contraception £168
- Also the same information from the year 2019 to allow comparison. If for some reason that year is not available, any other year pre-pandemic since 2013 would be fine.
With regards to 2022 data see responses to Q1&2
With regards to 2019-2021 data then in accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.
