Orthopaedic Waits - FOI Response Register

In light of the recent quarterly waiting times statistics (quarter ending 31 March 2024) being published this morning, I would like a breakdown of the number of patients who are on NHS waiting lists for the following orthopaedic procedures: a hip arthroplasty, a hip revision, a knee arthroplasty and a knee revision (these are the definitions used in Public Health Scotland's Scottish Arthroplasty Project report).

As such, can I request the following, for the FY 2023/24?

1. the total number of referrals for a a) hip arthroplasty, b) hip revision, c) knee arthroplasty and d) knee revision

For the quarter ending 31 March 2024:

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested as referrals are not coded to this level of specificity with these referrals instead being coded more generally as C8 Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.

2. the total number of patients currently waiting for a a) hip arthroplasty, b) hip revision, c) knee arthroplasty and d) knee revision.

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested as NHS Shetland do not hold a Waiting List for hip or knee arthroplasty or revision.

3. the total number of patients waiting over 52 weeks for a a) hip arthroplasty, b) hip revision, c) knee arthroplasty and d) knee revision
