GP Practices - FOI Response Register

1. Between 2014 and 2024, can you tell me the total number of GP practices (this includes those run privately and those run by the health board) that have permanently closed within NHS Shetland in the above time period?

None

2. Additionally, can you tell me how many private GP practices within NHS Shetland handed their contract over to the health-board in the above period, and if any of them have subsequently been closed down? 

We have no private GP practices in Shetland. 

We had a mix of independent contractor and salaried practices between 2014 and 2024.

Currently there is one independent contractor and nine Health Board salaried practices. No practice has closed down.

Between 1 April 2014 and the present day, six practices that operated under the independent contractor model for the delivery of NHS Primary Medical Services have transferred to Board run salaried practices during this period.
