Please could you provide the figures by filling in and returning the spreadsheet attached – there are separate tabs (1-4) for each question which have been clearly labelled? You can find the tabs along the bottom of the document
Please could you provide all of this information in calendar years?
- How many referrals were made to your CAMHS services from 2018-2024? Please give individual figures for each year.
See spreadsheet
- How many (already) diagnosed autistic children/teenagers were referred to your CAMHS services from 2018-2024? Please give individual figures for each year.
Under FOISA s 12(1), NHS Shetland is not obliged to comply with a request if the estimated cost of doing so exceeds £600. Having reviewed your request, NHS Shetland has determined that the cost of compliance would exceed £600 and so is unable to provide the information requested; we have provided a breakdown of the estimated costs below:
To answer would require manually reviewing every CAMHS referral received over this time period. There are 866 referrals and we estimate the above process to take an average of 4 minutes per referral. This would therefore take 866 x 4 = 3,464 minutes or 57.7 hours
Staff costs are capped at £15.00 per hour so the cost of responding to this would be 15 x 57.7 = £866
- If possible, could you also please provide the proportion (%) these referrals made up of the total number of referrals each year?
See Q2 above
- How many referrals were ‘rejected’ (i.e. not accepted by CAMHS/referred to another service) from 2018-2024? Please give individual figures for each year.
See spreadsheet
- If possible, could you also please provide information on why the referrals were rejected?
We cannot provide details of specific referrals, but in general referrals are rejected when they do not meet our criteria. This is usually because the referrer is asking for an ADHD/ ASD assessment with no evidence of co-existing mental health condition. Or the reason for referral can be supported in tier 2 services and does not meet criteria for a tier 3 to 4 service.
- How many referrals of diagnosed autistic children/teenagers were ‘rejected’ from 2018-2024? Please give individual figures for each year.
See Q2 above
- If possible, could you also provide the proportion (%) these rejections made up of the total number of rejections for each year please?
