- How many people are currently on a waiting list to receive an insulin pump for Type 1 diabetes and what is the longest wait?
Approx. 20 patients, some have been waiting for up to 2 years
- How many insulin pumps for type 1 diabetes have been provided to patients by the health board broken down by month from 2018 to latest data available?
NHS Shetland provides a pump start for the small cohorts on no more than a 6 monthly basis (as opposed to monthly within larger boards). Previously we sent patients requiring insulin pump therapy to NHS Grampian for insulin pump starts.

Where we have provided <5 answers this is because NHS Shetland considers that providing more specific detail carries a high risk of identifying individuals. We are also unable to provide a monthly breakdown for the same reasons.
As such and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 38(1)(b) as read with s 38 (2A) as the information constitutes personal data and disclosure would breach the confidentiality of the data subjects.

- What conversations has the health board had with the Scottish Government in the last two years regarding funding for diabetes technology like insulin pumps; how much has been requested and how much awarded?
Through the national diabetes group we have been providing figures requested to help support the conversations with the Scottish Government. The diabetes team have met with representatives from the National Diabetes Group to inform them of the ongoing pressures the teams have with financial pressures.
