Request and Response
  1. Please can you provide me with the number of patients who have presented at or been admitted to hospital in EACH of the last two financial years (up to March 31, 2024) and so far this financial year (April 1, 2024 onwards) for health problems caused by taking Semaglutide.

For example, medics in the UK have said they are treating patients suffering serious problems, such as pancreatitis and ketoacidosis, after the patients concerned took Semaglutide, which they did not have a medical need to take. Semaglutide also goes under brand names such as Ozempic or Wegovy and, as such, any records may refer to it by these names instead. If possible, please break the figures down to give details of the complications patients presented with as a result of their use of Semaglutide, i.e. pancreatitis etc.

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested as that a patient has had complications as a result of their use of Semaglutide is not information that is coded.
