  1. Do you have a Tier 3 specialist weight management service for obesity, with multi-disciplinary input?

Yes, tier 3 service commenced in 2024. There has been MDT input into the current delivery structure.

  1. How many patients have been referred to this service in the past two financial years (up to March 31, 2024 and so far this financial year)?

We do not hold this data by financial year but by calendar year.

  1. What medications are prescribed as part of this service? Specifically, are Orlistat (Xenical) and Saxenda (Liraglutide) prescribed? Or Wegovy (semaglutide) used for obesity management?

These medications are not routinely prescribed as part of tier 3 current service. Orlistat may be recommended for individuals who would benefit from this. Currently GLP1s are not prescribed as part of tier 3 services.

  1. Do you have a Tier 4 weight management service (i.e. weight-loss surgery)?

Tier 4 service is not provided locally. Referrals are made to NHS Grampian where appropriate

  1. How many bariatric surgeries have been conducted in the past two financial years (up to March 31, 2024 and so far this financial year)?

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested. This data would form part of the information held by NHS Grampian

  1. Is there an obesity care pathway for referral and if yes, can this be shared?

The referral pathway is currently under development and aimed to be shared within the financial year.
