Weight Management Services - FOI Response Register

1. Please describe the weight management service that you provide at Tier 3 in your board area.

Currently Tier 3 services include a group education service ‘Healthier Together’.

In addition there is a specialist weight management service for diabetes remission and prevention where counterweight plus liquid meal replacement may be offered to those who meet this criteria.

2. What is the complement of staff currently employed to provide Tier 3 weight management services in your board area, expressed as the number of people from each professional group?

0.7 WTE (3 days per week) specialist weight management dietitian to support diabetes remission and prevention.

For specialist weight management support for anyone who does not meet diabetes remission criteria, there is no allocated specific whole time equivalent for provision. The local dietetic team within NHS Shetland health board has 1.8 WTE dietitians and 0.4 dietetic assistant providing a general adult service to all clinical needs.

There are no other posts dedicated to Tier3 from other professional groups. Anyone working as part of an MDT that may contribute to weight management will have other aspects to their role
