On 19 May 2023, the Scottish Government Primary Care Directorate confirmed the allocation of £500,000 to NHS boards to support the implementation of protected learning time work for all GP practices.

I am therefore requesting the following information under the freedom of information act:

  1. What percentage of GP practices in NHS Shetland delivered at least one protected learning time session since the allocation of funds?

100% - Our practices have had four protected learning sessions in 2023/24 and again in 2024/25

  1. What was the average number of protected learning time sessions delivered per GP practice in NHS Shetland since the allocation of fund?

  1. What proportion of the allocated funds to NHS Shetland to deliver protected learning time in GP practices remains unspent?
