1. Please can you supply me with the following information on all vehicles both owned/leased by your NHS Trust and all vehicles sold between 01/09/2023 and 31/10/2024.

As advised on FOI 2023-354, publicly available on our website, NHS Shetland solely leases vehicles, so no vehicles have been sold during this period.

In terms of the registration numbers of the fleet vehicles and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 35(1)(a) as disclosure would, or would be likely to, result in substantial prejudice to the prevention or detection of crime, and s 35(1)(d) as disclosure would, or would be likely to, result in substantial prejudice to the assessment or collection of any tax or duty.

In applying this exemption, we are not suggesting that the intention of this FOI request is to use the requested information fraudulently. However, NHS Shetland publishes all request responses on its public website and we have had previous experience of the fraudulent use of the vehicle number plates of fleet vehicles. Because of the costs incurred by NHS Shetland in resolving such matters, NHS Shetland considers that there is a greater public interest in withholding the requested information than in disclosing it.
