Patient Travel for Hip and Knee Replacements - FOI Response Register

1. How much does it cost NHS Shetland to send patients from Shetland to the mainland for a)Knee replacements and

b) Hip replacements.

Please provide your data from 2023, 2022 and 2021. (Please include travel cost, surgery costs and accommodation where available).

2021 Flight cost  - £411.57

2022 Flight cost - £449.12

2023 Flight cost - £502.85

2. What is the current waiting time in the Shetland Islands for

a) Hip replacements and

b) Knee replacements, from the point of being referred for surgery until the surgery is performed.

NHS Shetland do not hold a waiting list for hip or knee replacement therefore in accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.
