Delayed Discharges - FOI Response Register

For all questions the monthly/annual breakdown provided only includes those patients discharged in said month/year.

1. The number of patients classified as a “delayed discharge” by NHS Shetland for the 2024/25 financial year, broken down by month if possible?

Where we have given <5 answers and removed the total, this is because NHS Shetland considers that providing more specific information carries a high risk of identifying individuals. As such and in accordance with FOISA s 16(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it holds the information requested but that it is exempt from disclosure under FOISA s 38(1)(b) as read with s 38 (2A) as the information constitutes personal data and disclosure would breach the confidentiality of the data subjects.

2. The number of patients occupying a bed at the Gilbert Bain Hospital for a week or longer for the 2024/25 financial year, broken down by month if possible?

Q2 & 3 refer to all patients, not just those classified as a “delayed discharge”.

3. The number of patients occupying a bed at the Gilbert Bain Hospital for a week or longer for each of the last five years, broken down by year?
