- Who provides your Radiology PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), and when is this due for replacement?
NHS Shetland currently use Carestream PACS via the NHS Scotland national framework. Following a successful tender process done by NHS Scotland, there is an active programme of work to implement a new national PACS over the next couple of years. NHS Shetland are waiting on finalised timelines of the schedule, but the local implementation will take place after the new NHS Grampian RIS is implemented.
- Who provides your Radiology Information System (RIS), and when is this due for replacement?
NHS Shetland make use of NHS Grampian’s RIS through a shared agreement. Following a successful tender process by NHS Grampian, there is an active project to replace the RIS with a scheduled go-live date of Oct/Nov 2025
- What was the total number of emergency admissions across your Health Board in the most recent full year?
During 2024 there were 1534 Inpatient Emergency Admissions.

Medica services are used for MRI examinations. Yearly costs are unknown at this moment as their services have only started.
