Illness and Conditions - FOI Response Register

I am referring to patients admitted with a disease coded (diagnosis 1-6). Please provide in a CSV sheet in two tables each with the condition as the column headings, one table for total patients and another for under 18.

Under FOISA s 14(2), NHS Shetland is not obliged to comply with a repeated request from the same requester, if it has recently complied with the original request. Having reviewed your request, NHS Shetland has determined that the request is identical or substantially similar to your previous request of 19 March 2025 (which we responded to on 7 May 2025) and so is unable to provide the information requested.

The only parts of this new request which is different are those relating to typhoid and cholera. While NHS Shetland is under no obligation to provide the requested information, we can inform you that there were no (zero) admissions for either of these conditions in the last 10 years.

1. How many patients were admitted to hospitals in your NHS health board with malnutrition annually in the last 10 years of available data?

2. How many of those patients were children under 18 years of age?

3. How many patients in Scotland were admitted to hospital in your NHS health board with each of the following diseases annually in the last 10 years of available data?

• Scurvy
• Rickets
• Cholera
• Tuberculosis
• Scarlet fever
• Whooping cough
• Typhoid
• Scabies

4. For each of those diseases, how many of the patients admitted to hospital were children under 18 years of age?
