Can I request, broken down by the calendar years 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 (most recent data):

1. How many medical shifts have gone unfilled after being put out for locum cover, broken down by speciality and position (e.g. consultant, resident doctor)

In accordance with FOISA s 17(1), NHS Shetland confirms that it does not hold the information requested.

This request is not applicable to NHS Shetland. Due to its remote location and the nature of service delivery, NHS Shetland does not advertise individual medical shifts for locum cover. Instead, locum cover is arranged in advance, typically for a minimum duration of one week. This approach ensures continuity of care and service stability across a geographically dispersed population.
