  1. the current number of accredited trade union representatives for each health trade union specifying the number who are stewards, health and safety reps and learning reps. 
  2. the current number of i) stewards ii) health and safety reps and iii) learning reps for each health trade union who have facility time.
  3. the current whole time equivalent (WTE) of facility time for each trade union for i) stewards ii) health and safety reps and iii) learning reps
  4. for each health trade union, the current total headcount number in rep roles, the total number with facility time,  and the current whole time equivalent (WTE) of facility time. Please de-duplicate the totals to reflect that some staff hold more than one role.

NHS Shetland, as a small organisation, allows staff-side representatives to agree facilities time with their line managers as needed.  This time should be recorded on SSTS on a monthly basis. While weekly data is unavailable, a total of 126.55 hours were recorded in 2024/25, though this is believed to be under-representation. The Board funds our Employee Director two days per week (0.4 WTE). Staff-side reps are encouraged at least annually to record not only meeting attendance but also time spent preparing, reading papers, and consulting members. Additionally, NHS Shetland supports non-union staff who act as staff supporters or lay committee members, ensuring their time is also recognised and paid.
