Registering as a Patient
If you wish to register at Bixter Health Centre, you can do so in advance by completing NHS Inform's Registering with a GP Practice.

Take the completed form to your local Health Centre where they will ask you for identification to verify who you are and then your registration will be processed.

Wednesday 8.30am – 1.00pm
Appointments available with the Doctor or Nurse

Visiting Practitioners
Chiropody and Counselling Practitioners visit the Practice.
Appointments are by referral from the GP.

Community Nursing / Midwife
To speak to the Community Nurses or Midwife please telephone 01595 810469. Alternatively you can leave a message on the answering machine through the day and a member of the team will phone you back.

For urgent assistance outside normal surgery hours telephone NHS24 on 111 and ask for the Duty Community Nurse for the Westside.

Health Visitor
To speak to the Health Visitor or to arrange an appointment at any other time please telephone 01595 746913.

You are welcome to come and weigh your baby at anytime during surgery opening hours.

Practice Area
The Practice can only accept new patients who reside within the boundary area. The boundaries are the Bridge of Walls road junction in the West, Tresta in the East and East Burrafirth in the North.

If you move out with the Bixter Practice area you will need to register with your nearest GP surgery as soon as possible. If you require further information or assistance please speak to the Practice Manager.

Practice Services
The Bixter Practice is a dispensing practice.

The Practice provides General Medical Services and in addition, contraceptive, maternity and child health surveillance services to registered patients. The Practice also provides travel vaccines, medicals, smoking cessation, weight loss advice and minor surgery. Medical Students from the Aberdeen Medical School are taught in the Practice twice a year.

Wheelchair access and disabled toilet facilities are available.

Repeat Prescriptions
Requests for repeat prescriptions should be made by telephoning the 24 hour dispensary line on 01595 746912. The Practice requires two working days to make up your medicines safely, so please order your medicines in time.

House Visits
Please make requests for house visits before 11am if at all possible. House visits are available for patients who are unable to attend the surgery due to illness or infirmity.

Access to Medical Records & Freedom of Information
A record of patients' medical history is kept in the form of paper notes (up until July 2010) and computer data. We take the security of records very seriously. Information about patients is only shared with other NHS staff when it is required.
