Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Service
The Advanced Nurse Practitioner service is a frontline service to meet the needs of individuals who have an acute illness and require to be seen that day. All patients who present at the Lerwick Health Centre needing to be seen, will be seen by an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and if the ANP cannot deal with the presenting problem they will seek GP advice and/or transfer the patient to the care of the GP.

Please see the Patient Leaflet which explains more about the ANP service and how it will operate. These leaflets have been made available across the organisation and also in key places such as our Accident & Emergency Dept and the local Community Pharmacies in Lerwick.

Travel Vaccinations
This service has been designed to provide the traveller with all the information they require when travelling abroad.

This service is, in part, outside the scope of the NHS. Most vaccines are free on the NHS but some are not, there may be a charge included in the fee to cover the cost of administering the treatment.
