Equality and Diversity

Welcome to NHS Shetland's information pages relating to equality and diversity. As you may already be aware, the work that we deliver to deliver equality to patients and to current and potential employees is complex and continues to grow.

The information that you find on these pages will also therefore continue to change as we publish our most up to date equality information and monitoring reports. This information is available to all employees as well as to the wider public.

In these pages you will find information detailing what NHS Shetland is currently doing to meet our legal duties. Wherever possible, we will ensure that there is an opportunity for you to provide feedback on the work that we are doing to deliver equality in health services and employment.

This section of the NHS Shetland website is currently being updated to reflect changes taking place as a result of the Equality Act 2010 and the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) (Scotland) Regulations 2012. The majority of the Equality Act 2010 is already in force and it is expected that parts of the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) (Scotland) Regulations 2012 will come into force from 27 May 2012 onwards.
