Outpatient Appointments
Most outpatient appointments are held in the general outpatient department opposite the main hospital reception area. Some children’s clinics are held in the children’s outpatient’s department. This will be clearly stated on your letter. Local and visiting medical teams, specialist nurses and therapists all hold clinics in the outpatient department. You may be contacted by phone or asked to come to the outpatient department to have a comprehensive assessment before your operation by the ‘Pre-Operative Assessment Team’ to ensure that you are fit for surgery (eg. reviewing/changing medications before your operation).
When you come to hospital for an appointment please bring your medicines or a list of the medicines you are on at the moment and how/when you take them. This is helpful to make sure we have the most up to date information on your medicines.
