Today, Tuesday 1 November, the Patient Travel department reopened to the public in its new location at Montfield in Burgh Road, Lerwick.
The new office will be open from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm for the collection of travel documents, parking tickets and for dropping off claim forms only.
Patients who are entitled to have claims reimbursed on the same day will continue to be paid by same-day bank transfer.
If patients are unable to get to the office during the opening hours, they can arrange for travel documents to be left at the hospital reception where they can collect them at a convenient time. Claim forms can still be handed in at reception and they will be forwarded to patient travel for processing.
Bookings for travel will still have to be made over the phone or by email and cannot be made in person. If a patient attends the office in person to make a booking, they may be asked to leave and phone or email as due to space, the department will only be able to allow two people into the waiting area at any one time. Patients cancontact the department from 8.45am - 5pm between Monday and Thursday and 8.45am – 4.45pm on Friday via telephone or email.
The Patient Travel department, which was previously in the Gilbert Bain Hospital, is now situated at the back of Montfield near the dental car park. To access the
department, patients should enter the dental car park and continue past dental where they will see a door with an entry buzzer. The buzzer should be pressed, and a member of patient travel will open the door to allow entry.
To contact the Patient Travel department, email: shet.patienttravel@nhs.scot or call: 01595 743305.
Please note, patient travel enquiries cannot be dealt with via telephone at Montfield Board HQ reception. There is also currently no public access to this are
