We are now nearing the end of the main autumn/winter vaccination programme.

If you haven’t had your Covid booster and/or flu vaccine yet you can attend one of the walk-in sessions or pre-book an appointment. Please remember that it takes a couple of weeks for vaccines to be fully effective and protect you from Covid or flu, so it is important to get protected yourself before the festive season. If you weren’t able to attend your previously booked appointment, either because of the bad weather we’ve had recently or for another reason, you can still come to a walk-in session or book another time to attend.

Walk-in clinics for those eligible for Covid boosters and flu vaccines are continuing at the Gilbertson Park Games Hall at the following times:

• Thursday 24 November, 1.30pm – 6.15pm
• Friday 25 November, 9.30am – 4.15pm
• Tuesday 29 November, 1.30pm – 6.15pm
• Wednesday 30 November, 9.30am – 4.15pm
• Thursday 1 December, 11.15am – 6.45pm
• Friday 2 December, 9.15am – 4.45pm
• Saturday 3 December, 9.15am – 4.45pm

You can also contact the team and arrange a time or your appointment by phoning 01595 743319 or emailing shet.vaccination-team@nhs.scot

The following people are eligible for the Covid booster and/ or seasonal flu vaccinations and can attend the walk-in clinics or pre book an appointment:
• anyone aged 50 or over
• anyone aged 12 to 49 identified as being at increased risk of Covid and flu due to
certain medical conditions or a weakened immune system
• anyone who lives with someone who has a weakened immune system
• unpaid carers including young carers
• pregnant women
• pupil facing staff in schools (Flu only unless in one of the groups above)
• adults under 50, and young people who have left school, who are in clinical risk
groups for flu but not Covid (Flu only)

In addition, anyone aged 12 or over who has missed any of their first doses of the Covid vaccine can still have these, either at a walk-in clinic or by appointment.

Staff who work face face-to-face with patients or clients in a health or social care setting are also eligible for flu and Covid. If you have not yet been vaccinated or given an appointment, please speak to your manager as soon as possible.

The following groups of children aged 5-11 are eligible for Covid vaccines. Please contact the vaccination team as above to make an appointment at a dedicated children’s clinic. The walk-in clinics are not suitable for children:

• All children who were aged 5 or over on 31 August 2022 are eligible for two doses of
vaccine
• All children in clinical risk groups are eligible for Covid vaccination after their fifth
birthday, including two primary doses and boosters
Children are also eligible for flu vaccination through their GP practice (pre-school children) or school clinics. The secondary school clinics have been completed, and the school nursing team is currently delivering the primary school clinics, they will run until the end of November.

The vaccination team is continuing to phone people in the clinical risk groups to offer appointments and will send letters to those who have not been reached by phone. Anyone who is under the age of 50 and newly diagnosed with a medical condition can check if they are eligible for Covid and/or flu vaccination by using the link below and then speaking to their GP who can send a referral on to the vaccination team.
