The RSV vaccine helps protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common virus that can make babies and older adults seriously ill. It is recommended during pregnancy and for adults aged 75 to 79.
People who will have their 75th birthday in the next year (born between 1st August 1950 and 31st July 1951) should have already been given a vaccination appointment or invited to make one. If you missed your appointment or have not yet made one and want to have the vaccine, please contact the vaccination team on 01595 743319 or email shet.vaccination-team@nhs.scot
We know that there was an error on some appointment letters with the date being in the American format, which led to people missing appointments, so we will be sending out reminder letters.
People who were invited last year but did not get the vaccine then are still eligible, if your birthday is between 2nd August 1945 and 31 July 1950. Please contact the vaccination team as above to make an appointment.
RSV vaccination in pregnancy continues to be offered by midwives at routine antenatal appointments.
