Delivery of palliative cuddle bed
Delivery of palliative cuddle bed

A palliative "cuddle" bed has recently been delivered to the Gilbert Bain Hospital, bought with donations made to Oncology/ Palliative Care via the Shetland Health Board Endowment Funds.

The local Streamline Team kindly organised freight and delivery of this bed to Shetland free of charge after learning what it was being used for. Gillian Macdonald attended on behalf of Streamline Shipping Group.

The specially adapted hospital bed is a standard hospital size, but can widen to become a double sized bed, enabling a person to have more room or for their loved ones to 'cuddle' up. These beds have previously been used by Roxburgh House in Aberdeen and have had good feedback.

The team would like to thank Streamline for their assistance in transporting the bed free of charge from the mainland to the hospital.
