To allow essential external repair works to begin at the Gilbert Bain Hospital, part of the hospital car park will be closed from 5pm on Thursday 19 February until Monday 23 February.

The closure is to allow the safe setup of a contractor’s compound, and no vehicles must park in the three highlighted areas during this time. The compound will be securely fenced and is expected to remain in place until April, weather permitting.

Some scaffolding is planned to be installed over the weekend to allow the weather proofing work to start. There may be some noise, but we will keep disruption to a minimum wherever possible.

At this time, no departments will be moving, and if any services need to be relocated in the future, patients will be informed in advance.

As work progresses, we will monitor the impact and welcome feedback from patients, visitors and staff. Your views are important and will help us plan the next stages of work in a way that is as smooth, inclusive and responsive as possible.

NHS Shetland apologises for any inconvenience this may cause while we carry out these important repairs. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
