Update on NHS Shetland's Spring COVID Booster Programme

The 2023 spring Covid booster vaccination is being offered to anyone in care homes; people aged 75 and over (by 30 June 2023) and people who have weakened immune systems.

People identified as having a weakened immune system can attend appointments for their booster vaccination from Monday 24 April. Most people in this group will have received, or will shortly receive, a letter inviting them to make an appointment. Some people will have also received a telephone call.

Appointments can be made, changed, or cancelled, by logging on to the national booking portal Login - Customer Service (nhs.scot). When you log in, you can click the blue button to book an appointment and then follow the next steps:

  • you will have to select the reason that you are eligible for the booster dose and the vaccinator will check this with you at your appointment.
  • you are then asked to check your personal and contact details.
  • you can then see a list of available clinic locations in Shetland and select the one that suits you best.
  • you will then be able to see any available appointment times and you can click to book the one you want.

If you have not received a letter or phone call and think that you should have, please let us know.

If you have any problems with this or if you can't find an appointment that you can attend, please phone or email us on 01595 74 3319 or shet.vaccination-team@nhs.scot

The primary (first and second dose) offer of Covid vaccination for 5 to 49-year-olds who are not at higher risk of severe Covid ends in Scotland on 30 June 2023. After this date, you will no longer be eligible for any Covid vaccines unless you become at higher risk for Covid. For example, if you start on medication that weakens the immune system, develop a long-term condition such as diabetes, or become pregnant.
