The Health Improvement team at NHS Shetland is launching its new Healthy Shetland website, which aims to share information about health and wellbeing, along with details of projects and services that are delivered locally.

Being ‘healthy’ is very personal and can mean different things to different people.  The Healthy Shetland website will support people to access information they can use themselves and provide details of where they can link with services and projects that they can get involved with in local communities.

From hints and tips for getting active in the workplace to falls prevention, from details about the Getting Started with Healthy Shetland programme to the Quit Your Way smoking cessation service, there is a wealth of information and resources.  There is something for everyone, whether a member of the public, a professional delivering services or an organisation planning new projects.

Over recent months the Health Improvement team has been testing the new website and gathering feedback to ensure it is fit for purpose.  User feedback is still very important and the team is keen to hear from anyone accessing the website. The website will continue to develop over time.

The new website can be found at https://www.healthyshetland.com

Katrina Reid, Health Improvement Principal said: “It is an exciting time for us as we launch this new website.  Over recent years there have been many things that have impacted our lives and communities, which have also had an influence on our health and wellbeing.  It’s important to remember we are all affected in different ways and that we all need different things to feel healthy or to be healthier.

“Our website has lots of information which we hope is of interest.  We are keen to hear what people think and have a link for gathering feedback which can be found in our first blog.  It is important we know what people think so that we can continue to develop the site.”

Director of Public Health, Susan Laidlaw said: “The Healthy Shetland website is an important resource for the local community.  I am absolutely delighted to see the progress that has been made on the new site and I hope that people will find it to be a useful source for information on health and wellbeing and local services that can support them.

“It’s essential that everyone can access information on how to look after their own and their family's health and especially to help prevent ill-health. The Healthy Shetland website is one way of doing that, and we look forward to continuing to develop it as a valuable and accessible resource."
