What to expect on the ward
Radio and television are available on all wards. You may find it useful to bring a battery-operated radio with headphones with you.
Access to the internet Free Wi-Fi is available in most areas of the Gilbert Bain Hospital through the NHS Guest network. Work is ongoing to improve Wi-Fi coverage, but some areas do not currently have a signal. Patients and visitors are welcome to use this network where available but are asked to bear in mind the comfort and privacy of others in the hospital.
To protect privacy and dignity, no one is permitted to take unauthorised pictures, or make videos or audio recordings in the hospital that feature other service users, visitors or staff. No unauthorised pictures, videos or audio recordings, or comments identifying individuals should ever be posted on any social media platform. Hospital staff will be able to advise if you have any concerns in this regard.
Laundry services are not routinely available and we advise you to ask a member of your family or a friend to take home any clothes that need to be washed on a regular basis.
