Service update - Hospital visiting restrictions
Due to a high volume of respiratory illness within our community, we are temporarily limiting hospital visits to the Gilbert Bain Hospital to essential visits only. Visitors will also be asked to wear personal protective equipment, e.g., a fluid resistance mask, when entering the ward areas.

Flu and Covid Vaccination Programme Update
Everyone in Shetland who is eligible to have vaccines this winter should now have been contacted. With six weeks of the main programme to go, we have vaccinated 34% of the 10,600 adults and 35% of the 3,700 children invited for flu vaccination and 42% of the 3,400 people invited for Covid vaccination.

NHS Shetland has received the first reports of seasonal vomiting and diarrhoea (often caused by norovirus or rotavirus) and is reminding members of the public to take precautions — and to avoid attending any health care settings, including Accident and Emergency (A&E) unless absolutely necessary.
