Care Opinion

Have you had to be looked after in hospital or a clinic recently? Have you had a reason to go to a health centre? You can tell everyone on Care Opinion what it was like. Your story will help others know what to expect. And it might help us make things better. You can say why you needed to be looked after and where you had to go. You can say what you liked and what you did not like!

Care Opinion is an online feedback service that enables people in Scotland to give real-time feedback and engage with healthcare providers about the service they have received. The majority of feedback received through Care Opinion is positive, however NHS Shetland also welcomes constructive criticism via this platform, which supports us to take forward service improvement and redevelopment opportunities.

NHS Shetland is currently trialing frontline Senior Charge Nurses and Team Leaders providing direct responses to people, to enable us to respond swiftly to any feedback received from patients, relatives and carers across Shetland.

Feedback can be provided using Care Opinion's website, www.careopinion.org.uk, using the QR codes available at most services, by telephone on 0800 122 3135, or by using freepost leaflets to handwrite their feedback. If you need assistance to submit your feedback, please contact Care Opinion directly on the Freephone number 0800 1223135.

Your story will appear (without your name) on the Care Opinion website. When a story about NHS Shetland is posted on Care Opinion it can be seen by anyone looking at the site. It also triggers an alert to all our Board Members and many of our Heads of Department so there is visibility across the organisation. When we get back in touch through this platform, if there are learning points to include, these can equally be seen beyond the service the feedback is about.

Given this is an public platform, there are occasions when we encourage people to get in touch directly with us, particularly if it would be helpful to provide more detail that would not be appropriate to share online.
