Update from the board meeting: First patients receive MRI scans
Earlier today, during NHS Shetland’s board meeting, Vice Chair Natasha Cornick provided on update on the new MRI scanner, she said: “You will all know that the MRI scanner is now on site and being commissioned. NHS Shetland undertook initial scans last week with volunteer patients to check the scanner is working as anticipated and is fully operational.

Support available to those impacted by alcohol and drugs
This week is mental health awareness week. Mental health issues can be especially significant for people who use alcohol and drugs, and are closely linked. People may drink or use drugs to help them deal with mental distress, but alcohol and drug use itself can lead to mental health problems which can leave folk in a vicious cycle.
